Minster Treasurers > 18/08/08

On Friday 15th August my friend and I visited the Minster in the hope of being able to see the Broderers Workshop (we are both members of Derby Catherdral Workshop) - we thought they were having an open day. However, we were wrong but the day was saved by a wonderful lady called Isabel (Tourist Desk) who took only 5 mins to arrange an amazing visit for us. She took us across to the Workroom after which introduced us to a Verger called Phil. What wonders we saw, embroideries to inspire, vestments, banners etc. We were filled with wonder - our only sadness was that train times did not permit us to stay for evensong. We thought it was enough to see the wonderful building but we were dazzled by the skills of past embroiderers and the wonderful, awe-inspiring work that they did which fortunately continues in the modern day workroom. Long may it continue and many thanks for allowing us to share these gifts with you.
